Plane Stupid are organising a protest tonight at the announcement that London City Airport is about to waste £200 million increasing the number of flights from the present unacceptable 70,000 to a ridiculous 111,000 annual flights. The development will include a new runway and additional taxiways.

60% of the airport users are so called "business" flyers. i.e. people who do not need to travel in an age where free video conferencing is available to all.

Local resident Ali Sharma spoke for many when he said,
"We are already living with noise, pollution and traffic from this unnecessary airport and now there will be even more. Why are our views not being heard ?"

Please assemble at London City Airport DLR station at 6pm tonight, bring in particular noise makers to show the airport how annoying noise can be.
