We all know that rats are intelligent creatures that form social structures. Those of us that have a pet rat know that a rat can develop an emotional attachment. Until recently people have been trying to eradicate rat populations mainly chemical agents, predominantly anticoagulants. These chemicals rarely kill a rodent in less than a week after ingestion. During that week the rodent will experience extreme agony because of internal bleeding and organ failure.
It looks like rats have recently evolved to become more resistant to poisons people are trying to use against them. So the new device has been presented in BBC News  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-25573771
Can anybody provide links to reports/articles about this matter? Namely what toxins are used and how they kill a rodent.
These devices will be quite expensive I would think, so if they are even worse than the currently used rat poison kits, hopefully they will "break" before causing extreme suffering to our lower brothers, who cause nothing more than a nuisance sometimes and can easily be prevented from inhabiting your house by natural methods, like having a cat (rats will detect the cat's scent and will be afraid to come near).
