BNP's Subway fiasco led to bridge disaster in Sunderland

On August 25th, the BNP announced a national call-out for a demonstration outside the Subway outlet in Pallion, Sunderland. The BNP doesn't give a toss about animal rights usually but has been inspired to appear to care by the English Defence League's aggressive stance against halal slaughter.
The BNP's attempts to appear to be as active as the EDL over halal has nothing to do with any ethical stance because the BNP doesn't have one, but everything to do with its urgent need for new members and its increasing desperation to engage the public's interest.
All this aside, local anti-fascists became aware of the planned national demo and made their own plans to counter-demonstrate. Thus, around thirty gathered outside Subway at about 12.15, with the only BNP supporter skulking around the corner.
At about 1pm, the BNP's national demo arrived - all eighteen of them. Some turn-out. Because the anti-fascists had already occupied the area outside Subway, the BNP had to demonstrate up the road a bit, outside the Kwik-Tan tanning salon.
Within ten minutes, one of the anti-fascists had snuck around and pinched one of the BNP's placards, smashing it up and stuffing it into the nearest bin.
By 3pm, the BNP's eighteen-strong national demo had got bored and packed up to go home. On their way home, of course, the Lie Lorry got stuck under the St Peter's Metro bridge, which pretty much made the day an all-round and expensive disaster for the BNP and a nice little success for the good guys.
This kind of small-scale action is not only satisfying for those involved in it but it's also extremely demoralising for the few remaining BNP activists. The BNP is dying on its arse and actions like this can only hasten its demise. Let's have more. Wherever and whenever the BNP pops its ugly head up, it's our duty to oppose it and if there's one thing the fascist party hates more than anything else, it's being humiliated in front of a sniggering public.
Kudos to anyone who stands up to them. If you can do it and get a chuckle into the bargain, go for it.
