UK Korean Friendship Association statement the anniversary of the Korean War

Statement on the anniversary of the provocation of the Korean war by the US imperialist. Condemnation of current US policy in Korea

UK KFA statement on the 62nd anniversary of the start of the Korean war and month of solidarity with the Korean people
UK KOREAN FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION

London 23rd June Juche 101(2012)

On the occasion of the start of the month of solidarity with the Korean people against US imperialism and the "Day of Struggle" against US imperialism , the UK Korean Friendship Association issued the following statement.

The Korean war provoked entirely by the US imperialists and their south Korean puppets was a horrendous genocidal war against the Korean people ,in which millions died. The aim of the US was not "freedom" and "democracy" but conquest and enslavement. The aim of the US was to seize the northern half of Korea in order to have a strategic bridgehead , so that they could have their troops on the borders of China and the Soviet Union .It also aimed to stifle the independence of the DPRK and snuff out the Korean revolution led by the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung.It was also a war aimed at conquest and expansion of US power in Asia .In fact General Douglas MacArthur wanted to turn the Korean war into a war against China. It was part and parcel of the "rollback " strategy of US imperialism and the so called "Truman doctrine."

The fact that John Foster Dullles, US secretary of state , visited south Korea only a week before the war started proves beyond all reasonable doubt the role of the US in provoking the war. It was like a pyromaniac been seen before a house being set on fire.

The US killed 1,200,000 million civilians in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea .We have seen the Sinchon Ri Museum which is an education centre but also a memorial to the 35,000 men , women and children killed by the US during their occupation of Sinchon Ri . Other massacres by the US imperialists occurred at Susan-ri and in the south Nogun-ri .The US also used napalm in Korea but also biological weapons that are outlawed under international law.
Despite using such barbarous means and committing many atrocities the US imperialists and their satellite forces were unable to subdue the Korean people who had risen under the leadership of the great leader generalissimo Kim Il Sung. The US were defeated.

Although it many years since the guns fell silent in Korea, the US imperialists continue to occupy the south of Korea. This is a deeply reactionary and anachronistic policy which has brought heavy burdens and suffering to the south Korean people and has prevented the reunification of Korea.
The most fitting tribute to those who died in the Korean War( or Fatherland Liberation War as it is known in the DPRK) is to campaign for the withdrawal of US troops from the south of Korea and for the reunification of Korea.
UK KFA fully supports the Month of Solidarity with the Korean people 25th June to 27th July , which was initated by the the Tricontinental Peoples Solidarity Organisation.

UK KFA and progressive people in the UK bear a heavy responsibility because to our shame , our rulers sent British troops to Korea , sacrificing young lives as canon fodder and bullet shields for the Yankees. Owing to the US imperialists and the Lee Myung Bak fascist clique the situation in Korea has become very strained. The US and south Korea are holding massive war exercises and even plan to stage the mult-national RIMPAC exercises.
UK KFA joins with Korean Friendship organisations throughout the world and progressive people everywhere in calling for the total and unconditional withdrawal of US troops from the south of Korea . The US must end its anti DPRK policy .Military exercises targetting the DPRK must end.
It is time for the Korean Armistice Agreement which nearly 60 years old to be replaced by a proper and permanent peace treaty.
"US troops out of Korea " must become the demand of the labour, peace , progressive movement and community organisations.
