I am being pro-active and have found geiger counters and radiation warning stickers through a web search. I advise anybody with enough money to buy these, go to your local supermarket and mark up anything with a higher than normal count so the unfortunate of us without money can see what's bad, many thanks in advance for anybody who can help with this.
For anyone who is interested in building their own, just google DIY geiger counter, there are plenty of resources.
