February the 5th has been called as a National Day of Action to Save our Libraries
In Stroud several authors have stepped forward to run sessions to celebrate Libraries
There will also be a talk on "Deficit Hysteria and Alternatives to the Cuts"
At 4pm, when Strtoud Library shuts, library supporters will become protesters - taking their views to the streets.

A celebratory protest against Gloucestershire
County Council’s proposals for the Library Service
Stroud Library, Lansdown
12noon-4pm Saturday 5th February
Free events - all ages welcome
12 noon – 1 pm Introduction to the Friend of Gloucestershire Libraries
campaign and “open-mic”, where anyone is welcome to
talk about their experiences of libraries and read from books
1-2pm Alice Jolly, Sue Limb, Katie Fforde will each lead 20 minute activities.
2 – 2.45 pm “Why I Love my Library” creative poster-making session with
illustrator Hannah Shaw. For children (and older children!)
2 - 2.45 pm “Deficit Hysteria and Alternatives to the Cuts” a presentation
by PhD Student James Beecher
2.45 - 3.15pm Children’s author Jamila Gavin
3.15 - 4pm Discussion on how to take the campaign forward.
4pm Rally outside Stroud Library
