Report of Smash EDO noise demo 19/01/11 - More petty arrests

The Smash EDO campaign aims to close the factory down. Every Wednesday, since 2004, activists have gathered outside the factory gates to bang pots and pans
Changes are planned in ITT, the US based owner of EDO, who announced last week that they plan to divide into three separate companies - http://www.zacks.com/stock/news/45902/ITT+Corp.+to+Split+into+Three
Workers leaving the factory were reminded of the fact that this week marks two years since Israel's massacre in Gaza - utilising EDO/ITT components.
As the demo reached a close one activist was arrested under section 5 of the public order act. His arrest is the latest in a string of petty arrests, with two activists on bail on a trumped up conspiracy charge, several arrests to prevent a breach of the peace and one person arrested for allegedly damaging the fence of EDO by banging it with a piece of rock at a noise protest.
These demonstrations are the backbone of the Smash EDO campaign - they ensure the workers of EDO/ITT can never forget that what they are doing makes them complicit in murder. We need your solidarity - come to the factory next Wednesday 26th January 4-6pm at EDO/ITT, Home Farm Road.
