Please spread the word and come down and lend us your support!!!
Dear Bristol Indymedia,
Students at the University of the West of England are occupying Frenchay campus on Monday 22nd November, from 4pm. The occupation is part of a week of actions that are protesting fee increases and cuts both to education and across the public sector more broadly. For more info on the events following the occupation, see below and visit the Face Book Page: 'UWE Students Against the Cuts' (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=162641213748580&r...ef=mf).
This is shaping up to be a really exciting week in the fight back against cuts in Bristol. But we need as much help as we can get!!! Please help spread the word as far and as wide as possible, and come down and visit our ‘education camp’ on Monday. Please bring anything and everything you think could be of use, from kettles, tea bags and cakes to banners, paint, old bed sheets, music and mega-phones. We need it all!
You can reach us at the Face book group, email us at uwe.better.together@gmail.com, or call 07586453336.
In solidarity,
UWE students
Mon 22nd: Occupation of Frenchay campus. Assemble at 4pm in corridor outside entrance to Library and Core24 cafe.
Tue 23rd: Rally outside the governors' meeting on Frenchay campus. Called
by the University and College Union, students will be standing alongside them. Bristol University students are also lending their support. We're meeting outside the Red Bar on the
courtyard there at 2.30, rally at 3pm.
Wed 24th: National walkout. Frenchay, St. Matts and Bower Ashton campuses
Are all walking out at 11am. We will then make our way to town to meet with
both Bristol university students and students from further education
colleges on the green next to the Wills Memorial building.
Thu 2525th: UWE AGM. Our students union is having its annual general meeting
so we're trying to get them to be much more explicit about opposing
education cuts. Any UWE students out there that somehow haven’t heard of this yet, please get down there and make your vote count.
