NOTE;I don’t like how govanhill has been described as a Muslim area in the article. I strongly believe Govanhill is a mixed area.
Ravi food store manager as demonstrated in the picture above was shocked at the unexpected protest. As solidarity activists spoke with the Ravi food store owner to get rid of his blood dates. Ravi food stores usual customers passed by and were pleasantly surprised to find solidarity activists protesting outside the store, and were disgusted that they were arrogantly selling Israeli dates. Saying they will take their custom elsewhere. This popular support of non violent resistance was a major contributing factor to prompt the shopkeeper to give up the Israeli dates.
After this protest, the solidarity activists alongside an al jazeera Arabic tv camerman and reporter headed to strawberry and spice gardens cash and carry/store to conduct a celebratory protest as well as having an interview with the owner for his progressive boycotts of Israeli products throughout his many Glasgow stores. Al Jazeera Arabic has 100 million viewing audience. Over 40 shops in Glasgow have embraced the boycott. Similar style boycott action have been organised nationwide, throughout Scotland in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Fife, and Kirkaldy. Many similar actions have taken place throughout England as well.
