The stench of suffering on an industrial scale

Pigs giving birth in farrowing crates so cramped they can barely turn around?
Babies unable to reach their mothers?
Mutilations without anaesthetic to prevent fighting and self harm?
Breeding grounds for new strains of antibiotic resistant, zoonotic diseases?
In the wake of a fantastic campaign spearheaded by national n.p.o. VIVA!, DERBY ANIMAL RIGHTS have now added their voice to the thousands objecting to the planning proposal currently being considered by South Derbyshire District Council. A dozen or so protestors with placards, many dressed as pigs - some IN CAGES - set up outside the South Derbyshire Council offices in Swadlincote ensuring that the issue remains high in the awareness of the council and the general public.
The protest was entirely peaceful and feedback from passing motorists and pedestrians was overwhelmingly positive.
It seems nobody wants a factory farm on their doorstep...
Not surprising given the increased traffic, the ugly factory complex, the harrowing noises and the 15 million tons of slurry expected to be produced annually.
