Personal Appeal from Huseini Abubakar - Removal Monday
John O | 30.04.2010 12:33 | Migration | Social Struggles | Workers' Movements
I suffer from severe psoriasis, a skin condition which makes my skin bleed and itch. I have suffered from this condition since I was a teenager but became severe in 1997 and in 2002 I had to be hospitalised with life-threatening erythrodermic psoriasis for about one month.
I have been on treatment since then. Because my medication wasn't controlling my illness well I was referred to a specialist at the Special Psoriasis and Eczma Clinic at St Thomas hospital. However before I was able to see the specialist I was detained.
In detention I was not allowed to take all the medication I was on before and my condition deteriorated. Now my legs are covered in painful rashes, they are bleeding and when I walk the blood soaks through my trousers and drips on the floor. My clothes are bloody and my bed sheets are full of blood.
2 different doctors who saw me in detention have said that I am not fit to be in detention and definitely not fit to fly and I quote: “It is my opinion that this man is unfit to fly, due to open and bleeding wounds on his legs, which is soaking through his trousers and trickling onto the floor. This is caused by severe and under-treated psoriasis”.
I was hoping to be released to see the specialist outside of detention but instead I was given removal directions for 03/05/2010. Being on the plane will be painful for me and it's humiliating to be bleeding all over the plane.
I don't think I should be removed when my condition is this bad especially after it has been made worse by detention.
Please help me and contact the home office and the airline on my behalf. You can use the sample letters attached.
If you need more information please call me on 07722391686
Thanks you.
