2) DEFEND EDUCATION! Rally and Protest Sat 27th March, 'There are huge attacks taking place on education and jobs locally and nationally, with much more threatened after the election, whoever gets in. Let's tell the politicians that education and public services shouldn't have to pay to bail out the banker's crisis.
Part of the protest after the rally will involve a mass act of education to show how much we love it.
Bring your favourite book, or a textbook and notepad, an abacus or whatever so long as it's education related.
And something to make a noise with along the way!
These issues affect thousands from Greater Manchester, we want to see school and college pupils, university students, support staff, lecturers, teachers and anyone involved in education or from the local community coming along on the day to protest about the cuts to education in our area.
The plan on the day is to meet at 12pm at John Dalton building, opp BBC on Oxford road. then we will assemble at 1pm at All Saints Park, on Oxford Road to march into the city centre and end up at a rally outside Urbis in Cathedral Gardens.
There will be speakers from local and national Defend Education campaigns - including a lecturer from Leeds Uni about their ongoing anti-cuts campaign and strike action and an occupying student from Sussex Uni .
This event is the first of hopefully many by the Education Action Network Manchester. If you would like more information or want to get involved in the planning meetings then please email.
Organised and supported Supported by Manchester College UCU, Manchester College UNISON, Manchester Met UNISON, Manchester Met UCU, Manchester University and Man Met students.'
