A climate rally was held in Carlisle town centre this afternoon. The rally was well attended with a samba band which helped to draw the growing crowd.

The aim was to raise awareness about the Copenhagen summit. Many signatures were obtained for Carlisle's Countdown to Copenhagen Campaign's petition. The petition asks that a global climate change deal that puts the world's poorest people at its heart is reached. This includes asking industrialised countries committing to a 40% or more cut in emissions.
