The Leeds GMB spoksperson in Leeds Desiree risborough said today that rubbish was beginning to pile up in the city of Leeds as the strike entered its 3rd day with no sign of a breakthrough in the dispute. She said morale was high and that the workers were determined to strike as long as it takes until victory is achieved. She also denied claims from Leeds city council that union members have been intimidating anyone who is currently working as well as glueing the locks to the gates of the Stanley waste disposal site. She said the allegations were rubbish and that picketing had been peaceful everywhere. She also said that the only workers crossing the picket lines to work were agency workers(some of whom have respected picket lines) and also members of the UNITE trade union who are currently balloting their handful of members in Leeds for strike action..
The strikers are due to hold a raly outside the civic hall in Leeds tommorow September 10th at 3pm with speakers from unions and other interested parties.
