TATCHELL, Peter, b 1952, gay and HIV/AIDS activist, social worker, journalist and author
http://www.aim25.ac.uk/cats/1/3273.htm
Born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1952, Peter Tatchell emigrated to Britain in 1971 to avoid being drafted to the Vietnam War, which he had actively opposed. He worked freelance in design and display whilst studying for a BSc in Sociology at the Polytechnic of North London, 1974-1977. During this period, Tatchell attended meetings of the Gay Liberation Front and soon became actively involved in gay politics. He acted as the GLF delegate to the World Youth Festival in East Berlin in 1973. Following his graduation in 1977, Tatchell became a social worker with the North Lambeth housing agency in Waterloo. In 1978 he joined the Labour Party, standing as an unsuccessful candidate for the Bermondsey by-election in 1983. In 1987 Tatchell founded the UK Aids Vigil Organisation, the first group to campaign for the civil liberties of those with AIDS. This was followed in 1989 by his creation of the London Act Up (AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power). May 1990 saw the foundation of OutRage!, a direct action group, primarily focussed on the Church of England. In the year 2000, Peter Tatchell stood unsuccessfully as an Independent candidate for the new Greater London Assembly. Publications: We don't want to march straight: masculinity, queers and the military (Cassell, London, 1995); Safer sexy: the guide to gay sex safely (Freedom Editions, London, 1994); Europe in the pink (The Gay Men's Press, London, 1991); AIDS - a guide to survival (The Gay Men's Press, London, 1986); The battle for Bermondsey (Heretic, London, 1983).

Peter Tatchell was one of the founding members, in 1989, of the successor to the UK AIDS Vigil Organisation – the AIDS activist organisation ACT UP London (the AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power).

Peter Tatchell (co-founder of the British ACT UP and founder of the British radical queer direct action group OutRage!) has written numerous tracts criticizing "gay gene" theories.
Act Up New York is a company, according to this:

It seems ACT UP were in the pay of Wellcome Trust, attending an AIDS conference in Berlin to disrupt the 'dissident' scientists and prevent open debate about HIV/AIDS:

'It was at this moment that the news began to spread that there had been an incident outside involving the activist group Act Up. Act Up members were in Berlin as 'official dissidents.' We had been told that week that Act Up in the UK had received £60,000 from Wellcome, which many members had used to pay for their trip to Berlin. The UK contingent took umbrage at Christian Joswig's anti-Wellcome, anti-AZT posters, snatched them from him and burned them. '
Wellcome certainly don't want the following to be widely known; they are making a fortune.

Peter Tatchell’s friend, Rex Wocker
http://www.petertatchell.net/international/nousaidforantigayregimes.htm
He (Peter Tatchell) saluted Mr Wockner as “the greatest gay rights journalist of all time.”
Rex Wocker also supports the drugs regime (they would just like the drugs to be much cheaper), There is even a phone number listed here your doctor can ring to get drugs, which are provided FREE until the FDA approves it for the market!

The Glaxo Wellcome pharmaceutical company has relaxed access
requirements for its promising anti-HIV drug 3TC, which is
awaiting Food and Drug Administration approval.
Now there are 650 slots per week and CD4 cells can be as
high as 300. The drug is free until the FDA approves it for the
market.
To get 3TC, one's doctor should phone (800) 248-9757.
Meanwhile, newer trial studies are hinting that 3TC and AZT
taken together with a "protease inhibitor" can produce even more
dramatic results. The protease inhibitors, of which there are
several in trial studies, are an entirely new class of anti-HIV
therapy. All previous therapies (AZT, DDI, DDC, D4T and 3TC)
belong to the "nucleoside analogue" class of drugs.
Dramatic results, indeed.
The AZT Disaster:
http://www.whale.to/a/kohnlein2.html
AZT kills everything that depends on DNA replication -- that means opportunistic infections and also cancers will respond to the treatment -- but at a high price. At the same time you are killing the opportunists with AZT, you are killing all dividing cells quite effectively - that includes those in the bone marrow, the very source of our immune cells.

there were tremendous concerns about the new drug. It had actually been developed a quarter of a century earlier as a cancer chemotherapy, but was shelved and forgotten because it was so toxic, very expensive to produce, and totally ineffective against cancer. Powerful, but unspecific, the drug was not selective in its cell destruction.
ACT UP also promotes the drugs regime (but wants them cheaper, so many more people can get access to these drugs):
http://www.positivenation.co.uk/issue120/treatments/treatment3/treatment3.htm
The drug received fast-track approval for people with advanced HIV before any long-term toxicity trials in animals had been completed. The very next day Burroughs Wellcome’s stock rose 32 per cent. But the cost of AZT, around $7,000 for one year’s supply, enraged activists and ACT UP (Aids Coalition To Unleash Power) in the States, staged a number of protests. By September the cost of the drug was cut by 20 per cent.
AIDS therapies are ‘poisoning by prescription’:
http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/aids_kids.htm
The life of a 4-year old child, who had tested positive for HIV and had faced the prospect of enforced treatments, was spared by a Maine judge in a decision which, among other things, underscored the fact that AIDS therapies are tantamount to poisoning by prescription.
Has the HIV virus ever been isolated?
http://www.virusmyth.com/aids/hiv/nheuropean.htm
Other participants will include Dr Stefan Lanka, a German virologist who has also argued against the HIV hypothesis; Huw Christie, editor of Continuum, a UK-based AIDS magazine which has offered a £ 1,000 "missing virus" award to the first person finding a scientific paper establishing actual isolation of HIV; and science journalist Joan Shenton, author of Positively False, a recent book about controversies surrounding HIV and AIDS.
