Following the recent heroic occupation of Britain's only factory manufacturing wind turbines, a Vestas worker will be speaking in Cardiff on Wednesday evening(as part of an international day of action in solidarity with Vestas workers), also speaking will be the President of National Union of Miners Wales hopefully, Marianne Owens, Vice-Chair PCS Wales, radical environmentalists etc. but the main aim will not be to hear speeches, but rather to hear a Vestas worker share experiences, raise solidarity & have a broad discussion and share ideas of how we can take things forward on 3 fronts 1. The Vestas campaign 2. The wider workers movement against the recession and job cuts 3. Building a workers environmental movement.
This will also be on the eve of the Wales Climate Camp near Merthyr.
The Vestas wind turbine workers have been evicted from the occupation, but they say firmly that the struggle goes on. They have asked for a national day of action this Wednesday, with action of some kind in as many towns and cities as possible. Vestas workers say Wednesday is the beginning of a national campaign. There will be another day of action, probably in September, and more action before and after that. So what you do on Wednesday is the beginning, not the end.
