BNP Kept Out Of Luton
HOPE NOT HATE | 29.03.2009 08:29
We understood that their original intention was to have a march in the middle of the town centre.
The Police were out in numbers and some of them were persuading the BNP supporters who arrived by train to get back on the train and get out of Luton.
The Police searched BNP supporters on the street and prevented them from getting at the anti-fascist demo.
Luton shoppers' faces beamed with delight when they saw our anti-fascist group
many anti-fascist leaflets were distributed and our petition was signed by shoppers.
The BNP are planning a fund raising event today at 5pm in Luton and we aim to find out where it is and stop it.
Here's a message from a UAF bod:
"Greetings friends and comrades, the fact that a couple of dozen members of the openly racist british national party saw fit to visit Luton today tells us that they are targetting our town. Well done to the 20 plus people who leafletted despite their intimidation. They intend to congregate at a pub in Luton tomorrow. If you wish to give 'em the red card from Luton meet up at the Asda car park on Wigmore Lane at 4.30. Regards".
Anglia TV News reported our actions yesterday and televised an interview by a member of HOPE NOT HATE. At the end of their report they said a BNP spokesperson said they had never planed to have a march??!!
