The CNJ also says in an editorial comment that the land would be used for building homes and communtiy facilities, as would the second site owned by the consortium at Hampstead Road close to the DDU.
There are 15,000 people on ahousing waiting list in Camden and only 25,000 council homes. This week the CNJ announced that more council homes are being sold off.
The backers behind the controversial and reviled virus lab are the MRC, UCL, CRUK and the Wellcome Trust who have put in £100 million.
The government has made a staement this week that no ctas, no dogs and no primates [includes humans] will be tested on at the lab.

The consortium have said that are "in dialogue with the community" however there are still many local people who do not know abou tthe lab and many people feel that they have not been consulted or informed properly. The only people that the consortium have spoken to are the Somers Town Peoples Forum while other community groups and leaders have not been included.
