Roberto Perez will discuss how the people of Cuba have achieved the remarkable transition to the "highest level of sustainable development" in the world (WWF 2006).

Roberto Perez says, "It is the focus on the three C’s - Community, Conservation and Cooperation that has been the key to Cuba’s survival during this crisis. Change and sacrifice has been based on what is good for the community and not based solely on needs of individuals."

Transition initiative is about empowering local communites to become resilient to the global crises we are all facing. It is about relocalising our economies in ways that are sustainable and truly democratic. It is about re-building strong communities where positive action on the grassroots level can secure an abundant future for ourselves, our children and grandchildren. It is also about creating a positive vision of what we would like to see for ourselves, then using the collective power and genius in our communities to materialise that vision.
Transition City Birmingham is a network of individual volunteers and groups who are developing Transition for the City of Birmingham.
The next Hub meetings after these events are 12 Nov, 10 Dec 2008, 8 Jan, 12 Feb, and 12 Mar 2009, at 7pm, in Jouney Metropolitan church, Shaw's passage, Digbeth (under railway archer, next to Warehouse FOE).
