UCU claim the proposed amendments would cut union-rep facility time by 80% and marginalise campus unions "in favour of a 'consultation and information forum' that would include non-union representation".
The de-recognition of NTU's local UCU branch is just one of a number of ongoing attacks on workers in higher education, including attempts to bring in compulsory redundancies at some universities.
The local UCU branch at NTU has recently held a consultative ballot on the issue:
91% in favour of greylisting Nottingham Trent
84% in favour of balloting for strike action
The strike action ballot opened on the 8th September and will close 29th September.
