Nesredin’s wife, Maryon, and three-year-old daughter, Orit, remain in Glasgow having been granted indefinite leave to remain. Because Nesredin is a member of an opposition party in Ethiopia , he faces being detained and possibly killed if he is returned.
HO Ref A1165193
Nesredin came to the UK in 2001 to study at Coventry and Warwick University . His studies were sponsored by the Ethiopian government. When the ruling party found out that he was a member of an opposition group, Nesredin’s support was withdrawn. Government agents raided his home in Ethiopia , and his brother was killed trying to escape. His three sisters ended up in a refugee camp, but were granted asylum by the United States government.
Nesredin applied for asylum in the UK . His application was refused in 2003, and the judge dismissed his story as ‘cynical fabrication’. His housing and financial support were withdrawn, leaving him homeless and destitute for the last five years.
He was arrested and detained on the th September at the U.S Embassy in London , where he was asking if he and his family could join his sisters in America . Nesredin’s wife, Maryon, and three-year-old daughter, Orit, remain in Glasgow having been granted indefinite leave to remain. However the Home Office have refused to recognise his marriage and the family will be split up if he is returned to Ethiopia . Because Nesredin is a member of an opposition party in Ethiopia , he faces being detained and possibly killed if he is returned.
Please help Nesredin to stay safe in Glasgow with his family where he belongs.
