Ilkley Moor Campaign - Update & Demo Date
West Yorkshire Hunt Sabs | 02.09.2008 15:13 | Animal Liberation | Ecology
At the beginning of the campaign a petition was presented to the full council at their monthly meeting, demanding a review of the decision over Ilkley, which got passed. A date has now been set for a council management meeting to discuss the matter and come to a decision - either yes or no to the shooting. The meeting is in mid-December and the bloodsports issue is last on the agenda, which just goes to show how they want to deffer the matter as much as possible and no doubt let it get caught in the Christmas holidays.
West Yorkshire Hunt Sabs are dedicated to continue to fight to stop grouse shooting on Ilkley Moor and as a result we are not going to let the campaign slip away, or the pressure drop, between now and the December review. Now facing regular demonstrations, publicity stunts and more public opposition than ever to the Ilkley shoot plans we are going to hold a series of further demonstrations at council events - some of which will be announced and others will be spontanious.
ACTION!
The next publicised demo is going to be at the Ilkley Councillors Surgery, at which the Head of the Environmental Portfolio at Bradford Council, who has overall control over the grouse shooting plans, is attending. Following this, we will have a stall and leafletting in Ilkley Town centre.
