A Note from St. Paul, Minnesota

Right now, thousands of protesters are converging upon St. Paul, Minnesota, for the Republican National Convention, where John McCain will be celebrated - by keynote speakers such as George W. Bush and Dick Cheney - as the party's presidential nominee.
We are not in St. Paul simply to say no to the Republican Party, to its disastrous policies over the past eight years, to its socially conservative, pro-capitalist, racist vision for the United States. We are in St. Paul to reject capitalism, imperialism, and the electoral spectacle. We are in St. Paul to express our dreams at the barricades.
As expected, the police in St. Paul, working with the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Secret Service, have responded (already!) by raiding houses and detaining activists. The scene increasingly resembles a total police state. Raids have been ongoing since last night.
Please visit minneapolis.indymedia.org for more information and to drop a note expressing your solidarity to the thousands of brave comrades who will be in the streets in the coming days...
Because our struggle is international!
