Starting in Rochester the Caravan and March wended its way for several miles to the Climate Camp, accompanied by a large police presence. Later they were to be faced with a mass stop and search and some with arrest. Early the next morning the camp was raided by police. This thinly veiled attempt by the government to suppress political dissent is applied indiscriminately and pre-emptively to peaceful protesters and local citizens alike, as well as to those contemplating mass actions.
The Caravan is a mixture of walkers and cyclists who converged on the Camp over several days from different locations in the UK.
