Once again, TCB calls its entire members on Thursday, for an important vigil at the Chinese Embassy 19th June from 15:30 to 19:00 heralding the Olympic Torch's possible arrival in Lhasa. Please make an effort to join the vigil during the Embassy's opening hours so that our voices are heard.
In ABC correspondence Stephen Mcdonall words: "I'm afraid that journalists have not been able to get into Tibet. In fact the Chinese Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Chin Gung (phonetic) was asked a few days ago you know if this ban was still in place and he said that I think it's been in place since March and it's still the case that we still can't go to Sichuan, Gansu, Qinghai and Tibet itself. And the talks, which were actually supposed to be happening yesterday between the Dalai Lama's personal representatives and the Government of Hu Jintao, have been postponed. Now Chin Gung was also asked about this - why they have been postponed. And he said that right now, all Chinese departments were focusing on earthquake related relief and that we hope that the Dalai side can take concrete actions to create conditions for further contact. So what tiny spark of dialogue there was has been completely petering out in recent times."
Please remember this is a peaceful vigil and respect the wishes of the Tibetan people who wish it to remain so.
