Bush's Visit: Change of Plan!
John Shemeld | 10.06.2008 14:43
George Bush is going to be spending the morning of Sunday, 15 June over in Windsor seeing the Queen. He's then been invited to Downing Street for dinner with the Browns that evening.
The Stop the War Coalition (now with the support of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, CND) has decided that we want to be protesting outside Downing Street while Warmonger Bush and Warmonger Brown are in there.
That means that the new assembly time for the demonstration is 5pm, and that means that we don't have to leave Nottingham quite so early in the morning.
The NEW DEPARTURE TIME for the coaches from Nottingham (down to London on Sunday, 15 June) is 12 NOON from the Salutation Inn, Maid Marian Way, and a few minutes after that from Nottingham University's Portland Building. The cost is still the same (£16/£8), and we intend to be back later the same evening.
At the moment Stop the War is telling the police that we want to march down Whitehall past Downing Street, and they're saying we can't. We intend to go that way whether they like it or not. When George W. Bush visits the country are traditional rights of assembly and movement removed from us?
In the past, when this sort of stalemate has been reached, the police take a look at the size of the protest and then say Oh alright then! That's what they did when we wanted to march past Parliament last October, but they left it to the last minute.
It should be a good protest.
There's only days to go so we need you to buy your ticket now! Call Mark on 07947 609 401 to sort it out.
