REF: HIGHWAYS ACT 1980, Town and Country Planning Act 1990 & The Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 1992
On 10th April 2008 it was reported that placards advertising a bike ride organised by Critical Mass, have been seen attached to street furniture on numerous streets throughout the Leeds metropolitan area. The placement of these adverts causes an eyesore; creates road traffic hazards; can also directly injure pedestrians and is also counted against the city when assessing how clean the streets are.
It is an offence to fix any signs to any street furniture within the highway without proper permission. I am writing to inform you that your adverts have therefore been placed unlawfully. Photographic evidence of the offence has been obtained.
I am willing to discuss this matter and therefore would be obliged if a representative from your organisation contact me as soon as possible. My details are below;
