Saddiq Family Detained after Dawn Raid in Leeds
The Saddiq family are from Karachi in Pakistan. They fled to the UK in 2005 because Saleem suffered persecution due to active membership of a minority political party.

Helen & Alistair Itanje:
I really wish every body could understand that Millbank is a torture chamber, the conditions there are more inhuman than that of a detention centre. I really feel somebody have to do something to stop them from treating asylum seekers in the way that they do, I really do wish they could be exposed.
Editors note: There is a new Home Office scheme, 'Alternative to Detention' being piloted at Millbank induction centre, run by Migrant Helpline

"On the same day that she returned to India, the Immigration Tribunal informed her solicitor, that they had ordered a reconsideration of Zarine's case.

Mrs. Tasnim Rentia would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the many people and organizations that supported Zarine and herself over the years."

Keep Constance and Andreas in Cardiff

Note: Now that Andreas has his nationality confirmed, he as a European citizen, will be able to exercise his freedom of movement and apply for a residency permit for his mother Constance, there are some conditions to meet but these are very easy.

Helen & Alistair Itanje
I really wish every body could understand that Millbank is a torture chamber, the conditions there are more inhuman than that of a detention centre. I really feel somebody have to do something to stop them from treating asylum seekers in the way that they do, I really do wish they could be exposed.

I had a call from the immigration Thursday evening, telling me that I have to go back to Millbank, if not I will be arrested.

I would like to point out a few things that the manager said to me:

"I am part of the plan that you should be brought here.

"if you are serving God, your God should come and save you.

"I will call the Home Office and they will cancel your judicial review.

"you are a destitute and must go back to Cameroon.

"If you are not happy here, it just takes one phone call and you can go back to Yarl's Wood.

"Above all he accused me of stealing a TV.

Stay blessed,
Helen and Alistair

Saddiq Family Detained after Dawn Raid in Leeds

The Saddiq family are from Karachi in Pakistan. They fled to the UK in 2005 because Saleem suffered persecution due to active membership of a minority political party.

Saleem and Saima have a son Abdul, born here, now 2 years old. Their daughter Zulekha, 4, is happy, settled and attending Holy Rosary Nursery in Harehills.
Saleem, who has struggled with depression since his ordeal in Pakistan, is excelling on a BTEC National Award in Airport and Airline Operations and is due to graduate in 6 weeks. His tutors have commended his commitment and motivation. Saima has volunteered with SureStart, helping families new to Leeds to integrate, and studied English to a high level.

The Saddiq family, staff and students at Park Lane College, Park Lane College Students Union and Leeds No Borders have started a campaign, pressuring the Home Office to allow the family to stay in the UK.

What you can do to help, visit their Home Page for model letter and full story of the family.
