200 anti-protesters tear-gased and arrested

Apparently the anti-globalisation movement in Switzerland is not yet dead. Despite a ban on demonstrations in Bern, over a 1,000 took part in protests against the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos on Saturday.
Police used tear-gas canisters and rubber bullets to disperse the crowds that had gathered illegally. Protestors threw bottles and smoke bombs at the police. Some 200 were detained.
Around 2,500 participants from around the world, including 27 heads of state or government, will gather for the annual meeting starting Wednesday in the Alpine resort of Davos, eastern Switzerland.
US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Prime Minister Gordon Brown will be headliners for the five-day meeting, where a wide range of topics including climate change, terrorism and the global credit crunch will be discussed.
