NUFFGlobal selected 3 films for the first NUFFGlobal Youth Film Awards on Climate Change.
The films screened this week in Bali are:
“The Fridge” by Lucie Stamfestová and Pavel Sobek from Prague, Czech Republic is an animated “Parable about planet Earth” – technically creative and captivating. Operating on several levels, it achieves high visual and story-telling standards. Through the animated metaphor of a forgotten, warming refrigerator, the audience confront the comic, then tragic devastation of a rapidly overheating fridge-oven.
“From the Camp” by Ahmed Mashharawi from Gaza, Palestine
a documentary film on the strip of Gaza, the film bears witness to longstanding conflict and war, now made worse by the realities of high waters due to climate change, now literally at their doorsteps. The documentary sets the audience in direct contact with the people affected. Neutrality is in a dead-end in matters relating to the climate crisis.
"Faceless” by Tunde Aboderin (Nigeria)
Lagos has 16 million inhabitants and is one of the large cities due to be flooded in the all-too-near future. If an equally big city in USA or Europe were to be flooded, we would see the pictures on CNN or BBC. But for Lagos it will not be the case, and we are thankful for getting this important information.
The films will be screened more than once during the entire period of the Bali Conference.
