A public meeting/workshop exploring the relationship between socialism and feminism, between class struggle and women's liberation.
Does Marxism have anything useful to say about the continuing oppression of women? Do revolutionary socialists take women’s liberation seriously? Is it possible to combine class politics and feminism, or will that simply lead to one engulfing the other?
This workshop will look at these issues and more, investigating Marxist analyses of women’s liberation, while also discussing common criticisms of Marxism.
Sofie Buckland, NUS executive member and organiser of the recent Feminist Fightback conference, will lead off, making the case for a renewed socialist feminist movement today, followed by group discussion. All welcome
