Demonstration and Call for Action in Solidarity with Those on the Streets in Berlin
On and around 8th December 2007
The history of capital is a history of brutal displacement of people from the spaces and the
communities they create for themselves. It is a story which continues into the present.
As Berlin is threatened with the eviction of some of it's last autonomous, squatted spaces - Rigaer94, Bethanien, Schwarzer Kanal, Liebig 14/34 and the Köpi - all of which are under threat within the next year, we prepare to take the streets on the 8th of December to fight for life, for freedom and for the destruction of that which attempts to destroy us.
We therefore call on everybody to join the demonstration in Berlin on the 8th of December - almost one year after the “final battle“ in Copenhagen - in order to destroy together the winter lethargy of investors, yuppies and cityplanners and to show clearly and unequivocally our rage against the current situation ….
Because not everyone can come to Berlin to fight with us on the streets, we ask that the resistance spreads beyond this city, just as the fight for free spaces - as well as for our lives and freedom – is not a struggle isolated to Germany. There is no local anymore: there is only one struggle everywhere. In April 2008, there will be a a weekend of decentralized actions in defence of free spaces and against capital. We call for those actions to start now: on and around the 8th of December, we ask everyone to make an attack on those responsible for the brutal closure of the spaces we create for ourselves - to live, socialise, organise and attack from. The targets are countless.
In the last years, there has been a concerted assault on the spaces set up by us, the antagonists, in all countries and in different communities – from the eviction of the Romani camps in Athens to make way for the 2004 Summer Olympics, the struggle for Ungdomshuset in Copenhagen, the escalation of squat evictions in Barcelona and of families from squatted encampments in France and Japan, the final stand of the 30-year old squat St Agnes Place and the eviction of squatted social centres in the UK, Switzerland, and Helsinki, the violent expulsion from their homes of villagers in South Korea to make way for the expansion of a US Army base, to the threat of displacement and evictions in London as the government prepares for the 2012 Olympic Games. The attack on these places that we make for ourselves in the trenches of the global social war shows clearly that this attack is not just about how we live our daily lives but how our lives are constantly subject to the maneouvres of capitalism, be it invasions and groundwars in other countries or the sporting events which it offers us as a balm for the wound of life under occupation. If we are not to be forced to live as prisoners of war in the barracks of capital, then we must pay attention to our common struggle and fight as one – wherever we are.
Active solidarity with all threatened autonomous projects – in Berlin as worldwide! Fight and defend autonomous freespaces!
