Leeds is known for many things: its strong sporting heritage, its museums and art galleries, bands including Kaiser Chiefs and the Pigeon Detectives and celebrities including Peter O'Toole, DJ Chris Moyles, Spice Girl Mel B and comedian Vic Reeves. But a new piece of research has revealed Leeds to be one of the friendliest cities in the UK… but the least flirty!

The study was conducted by CitySocialising, a social networking and events company which aims to kick start the social lives of young, busy professionals. The research involved 15,000 people in cities across the UK.

The research revealed:

• Leeds was voted the 3rd friendliest city in the UK after Manchester and Glasgow. London came last.

• Leeds was voted the 4th easiest city to make new friends, Brighton was 1st Manchester was 2nd and Glasgow was 3rd. London was last.

• Leeds was the least flirty city in the UK with 11% of people admitting to flirting with a friend’s partner. Brighton was the flirtiest city with 64% and Manchester was 2nd with 47%.

• People in Manchester had more friends than anyone else, followed by Brighton then Leeds. On average 25% of those questioned in Leeds had 10 or more friends.

• 45% of those questioned found people in Leeds very friendly.

• 57% of those questioned said the best way to meet people in Leeds was at work and the worst place was in a restaurant.

• In terms of best places to meet new friends, 55% of people questioned said Leeds’ bars and clubs.

• Specifically, Leeds’s Living Room bar, Revolution club and The Atrium club were considered the best place to meet new friends.
