A new website has been launched. Called Sarbat.Net, it is an online community website for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Sikhs.

A new website for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Sikhs has been launched, the first of its kind for the Sikh community.
Called Sarbat.Net, it derives its name from the final verse of the Sikh congregational Prayer of Supplication or ‘Ardas’ and encompasses the concept of ‘wellbeing and prosperity for the whole of mankind’. It is with that concept in mind that the website has been set up to meet the growing needs of LGBT Sikhs.
The website includes articles tackling controversial issues such as Sikhism and same-sex marriages as well as a discussion forum for people to voice their opinions about various issues in a safe environment.
Sarbat.Net is also in the process of gathering the personal testimonies of Sikh men and women and what it means to those individuals to be Sikh, Gay and British in the early 21st century.
It is hoped that the website will help create an online community for LGBT Sikhs, as well as promote discussion about Sikhism’s approach to homosexuality in the wider Sikh community.
In the true spirit of Sikhism, Sarbat.Net is open to all people regardless of gender, race, religion or sexual orientation.
