The easf.org.uk project has been running since 2003 but has seen a major rebuild with the introduction of a media wiki system in the run-up to the next East Anglian Social Forum in Halesworth.

The site, which has been running since 2003, is the first and only such project of its kind in the region, housing a newswire and events directory on the front page, an online discussion board, email discussion lists and the wiki project.

After the crashing of an original wiki project earlier this year, this rebuild has seen the introduction of a substantial amount of new material. It's got easily the largest radical history section (certainly free) for the region ever to go online, with coming up for three whole books now transcribed, collated by date and tagged by county from around Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. There's also information both on topics covered by the physical EASF forums and from people who have simply expanded a bit on their expertise, and the beginnings of a database for unionists to work from, along with famous lefties from the region etc.

Organisers are looking for progressives of all shades from around the Eastern region to participate and build the wiki and site into a comprehensive resource to help bring together and promote a local counter-movement to the dominance of the right, as a means of disseminating information and calls for solidarity quickly, and as a real rival to the mainstream media.

The relaunch comes as details are finalised for the next physical meeting of the East Anglian Social Forum in Halesworth on November 10th from 10am-5pm.

Workshops scheduled so far include:

Session one - On local community outreach with young people
Session two - On setting up and sustaining an Arts Centre
Session three - Update on the collective home schooling project at Ringsfield
Session four - On local activism and organisation of the annual Greenpeace Fair

Additionally, there will be a Regional Roundup, and time set aside for organisational discussions.

Travel information is as follows: Halesworth is situated on the trail line between Lowestoft and Ipswich (the East Suffolk Line). There is a bus service between Halesworth and Norwich; anglian buses number 588, which runs fairly frequently.

The venue is the United Reformed Church Hall, on Quay Street, which is 5 minutes from the train station and 2 minutes from the town centre.
