Each year, Protect The Human Week celebrates human rights through events such as themed parties, comedy or club nights. It is an important part of Amnesty's drive to get a million people in the UK standing up for human rights and humanity.
Protect The Human Week 2007 will also see the launch of unsubscribe - a chance for people to unite against human rights abuses in the `War on Terror'.
Group Secretary, Jennifer Emerson says "Our Protect The Human Party will combine a chance for local people to enjoy themselves while raising money to support Amnesty's vital work for human rights all over the world."
Amnesty International has over 260,000 members and supporters in the UK, acting on behalf of individuals whose human rights are threatened and campaigning on a range of issues. These include ending torture and the death penalty, stopping violence against women, controlling the arms trade, encouraging businesses to improve their impact on human rights, supporting freedom of expression on the Internet and seeking a fair and effective asylum system. There are more than two million Amnesty supporters worldwide.
