First London Laughter Bomb
London Laughter Bomb | 13.09.2007 18:54
On Tuesday 11th September 2007 the first London Laughter Bomb took place. A group of brightly-dressed, smiling people gathered outside St Pauls Cathedral and proceeded to sing, giggle, play games and run around laughing.
With the aid of some crazy balloons that gradually deflated making a farting sound, we set off a Laughter Bomb from the top of the steps in front of St Pauls. Then we ran around playing "tag" at the bottom of the steps, sang songs such as "The Sun Has Got His Hat On" (deemed appropriate by our resident astrologer in view of the Solar Eclipse taking place that day), did our own giggly version of "Ring-a-ring-a-roses" and talked to interested passers-by. Later on, we had an impromptu "open mic" session, performing our own favourite songs.
There were some fantastic costumes including a Gandalf outfit, and the mood of dress was overall very colourful and festive. We even filmed much of the fun and games, hopefully to go up on YouTube at a later date.
The police approached at one point, as they seemed to think you needed a licence to dress up, run around and have fun. But when one of us exclaimed "What, you need a licence to have fun?!" they seemed embarrassed and hurried away, leaving us to enjoy the rest of a beautifully sunny afternoon.
