Black Frog Stays!
Hi all
Due to unforeseen circledances - the fact that our squat centre was
evicted unexpectedly on Thursday 30th August - we are having to (hopefully
temporarily) postpone most of the upcoming events we had planned.
SO... The coffee cake and Camberwell day has been put off, though it will
happen soon in another venue... Check the website and watch for an email
on that one.
Polish and Spanish lessons are suspended till a new venue can be worked out.
The Discussion Night "Is it art or is it Arse?" is postponed, from this
Thursday 6th September... Again it WILL happen, watch this space.
FIlm Nights: We are in the process of deciding what to do about the weekly
film night, check the website for an update.
Obviously tonight's booty rebel disco party has been relocated - we
suggest you dance, wherever you are, in defiance and love and laughter -
developers, bailiffs, Sean Davey, Michele Guinchard, Silverside Property
Ltd, John Desmond, Barrister Kerr, the Mad Major and all your kind - WE
WILL DANCE LIKE WHIRLING DERVISHES ON YOUR COLD GRAVES.
Another thang: for anyone who donated or lent us stuff, like pots and
pans, CDs, other items, if you want any of it back, get in touch with us, and tell us what you gave...
Some of us around the Camberwell Squat Centre collective are currently in
discussions about opening up another space in the area... There's no
concrete news yet... We will let you know. A longer fuller collective
statement on the centre, its legacy and the eviction will be available in
a few days.
We would like to say thanks to all the local crowd, regular attenders, and
wider scene who supported the Centre, came to our events, helped with
building and cleaning, held their own nights and generally gave us a hand
or stopped by to talk... You made the space as much as we did. We hope we
will see you soon, whether in a new space, in other local projects... The
struggle continues.
One of the main lessons of the five and a half months we spent in the
squat is that there is a huge potential for organising, getting events and
action together in the Camberwell area. Maybe it'll come from us, maybe
from elsewhere, but there's a huge energy for change out there in SE5.
Soon
