Shutting the Home Office gate
Shutting Tadley gate
Matt sat on top of the Home Office gate, keeping it closed until after 10am. A scaffolding tower was built and moved into place so that he could be removed. A second woman was also arrested while attempting to lock the gates together, and she may be charged with Intent to commit criminal damage.
Meanwhile at the Tadley gate there was a full lock-on across the roadway using steel and concrete pipes, completely blocking this entrance until around 11am. Here seven people were arrested for Obstruction of the Highway. The Construction gate was also d-locked shut for a shorter period.
The 9 arrested were taken to three different police stations within Berkshire, and all have now been released and are bailed to appear at Newbury court next month.
They are very pleased with the success of their action which caused widespread delays to site traffic, and said “Scots went down on St Georges day to take action against the bomb. It doesn't take many people to be really effective, so get off yer arse and lock-on!”
