The Mordechai Vanunu Freedom cyclists will be on their way from Faslane to London, arriving there on 21st April, the 3rd
anniversary of Mordechai's release from his 18-year sentence. The purpose of the ride is to protest at the continuing restrictions on his movement, speech and association, and to protest also against Israel's nuclear weapons. The riders are calling for a nuclear-free Middle East and for justice and peace for the Palestinians. David Polden, chair of London Region CND, will speak.

Remembering the tragic bombing of Libya from Lakenheath also draws attention to the continuing role of the base in the Middle East: the bombing of Iraq since the early 90s, now with the added deployment of cluster bombs. Cyril Brown, who has organised the vigils ever since the first, will speak.
The Iran crisis is escalating with the capture of 15 UK marines in disputed territorial waters. This may well be used as a trigger to commence military action against Iran with catastrophic
consequences for world peace. Do not attack Iran, will also be our call. The base has been involved in the war crimes committed in Iraq and would be likely to be a base that would also bomb Iran.

nuclear bombs (up to 110 at any one time) base here,
committed to NATO's first use policy and a focus for accidents and hostile attack. Mell Harrison will give an update on the "Lakenheath 8", charged under the Serious Crime and Police Act for their direct action last October, and Davida Higgin will speak on connections with NATO and anti-nuclear campaigns at other bases in Europe.
