And with the influence the Beatles not only had on music but with culture it is well deserved.Having spent some time in Glasgow when it was capitol of culture i came back to the UK to observe Liverpools approach. In Glasgow i felt it was a contrived affair.Later Rab C Nesbitt the comedian piloried it for exactly what it was.Liverpool people seem totaly unintrested. In a pub talking and asking the question what do you think...No intrest at all.So i thought i would get off the beaten track and called a cab."Take me to the part of Liverpool were its raw."The cab driver gave me a strange look and said "ok you asked for it".He dropped me off in Granby street Toxteth. There was no one about at all.It was about 10 30 pm.I walked along and took a corner that led me on to a street with signs on house's saying "hands off our homes".And "notice to merseyside police.Kick this door in at your peril".I thought ,"shit were the fuck am i?".But it's just a small area of a few streets that lead back to the main centre city. But a ghost few streets within it,and very eery. One door had this notice (see attached pics).on it.Later i found out it was put there by the owner, who was not fed up with being burgled but was fed up of having his front door battered in by the police.Whatever this culture Liverpool has been voted capitol of it is more diconcerting than Glasgow ever was.
