Some people in Poland are so drastically poor that they eat dogs to survive

What would You do if left with 45 pounds monthly? Would You eat Your dog? Or maybe some unwanted dog? Polish poverty, banned from propaganda media of nationalistic dicatators, found in more independent media.
I have just read an article about a man who was so hungry that he was eating dogs to survive in Poland. He ate them for several years in a row, because he had to make a living with circa 110 punds monthly of social aid, shared with his mentally handicaped aunt. Out of this, he had to pay off his debts, so he was left with circa 90 pounds monthly to be shared for two.
Local people were leaving unwanted dogs at his fence. He was cought by the police, a whole barrel of animal fat was discovered, 17 dogs alive and two remnants of eaten dogs. This case in Kępa (Słomniki area) is second one in the area, month earlier similar case was discovered in Zielonka. All these cases happened in the area of southern Poland, close to country's former capital, Cracow.
