Vigil held for DR Congo asylum seekers

Around 80 people gathered at Dortmund Square in Leeds to light candles for friends and family who were forced to return, despite a massive campaign to stop the deportations, last Monday.
Members of the DRC community spoke of their anger and sadness at the forced returns. . Speakers called for a continued campaign to stop all deportations to what remains one of the most dangerous countries on earth.
A message from the Bishop of Ripon and Leeds was read out and a two minute silence was held.
