Neo-liberal policies are responsible for the exploitation, plunder, and destruction of the community and the environment all over the world: We will take a journey into the growing resistance to big corporations plans.
Plans imposed upon people by governments and protected by police and army. Policies that enrich few people and leave the great majority with nothing.
This video will enhance our understanding of what is happening around us, while inspiring our quest for ways to better organize ourselves and grow stronger in our Hackney.

A Place of Rage
by Pratibha Parmar (1991)
An exuberant celebration of revolutionary black feminist figures (in the twentieth century) and their achievements featuring interviews with Angela Davis, June Jordan and Alice Walker. Within the context of the civil rights, Black power and feminist movements, the trio reassess how women such as Rosa Parks and Fannie Lou Hamer revolutionized American society. A stirring chapter in African American history, highlighted by music from Prince, Janet Jackson, the Neville Brothers and the Staple Singers.
Followed by discussion.

Everyone is invited to come along and get involved in the running of the building. If you want to propose new intiatives, benefit nights, or simply advertise your campaigns issues this is where to come.
Social centre working groups to get involve with:
- Cafe Collective
(running the cafe nights and/or opening the cafe during the day)
- Cinema Collective
(if you want to show a film on cinema nights or do a cinema night of your own)
- Events Group
(co-ordinates the weekly events, and benefits).
- Building Group
(co-ordinates the day to day runnning of the building, building policy and ensuring events happen)
- Community Networking Group
(involved in designing and distributing leaflets in the area, ensuring people know about what the social centre is and what is happening here, reaching out to other communities and campaigning to keep the social centre up and running)
