If voting made a difference: Ecuador, the quintessential banana republic.

“Noboa has opposed campaigns for workers' rights within his own companies, and Noboa Group workers have been illegally dismissed for joining trade unions. In one 2002 incident striking workers at a Noboa subsidiary were attacked and — according to a Human Rights Watch report — several were shot by organized assailants. Noboa Group was also criticised in a Human Rights Watch investigation into child labour practices in the banana industry.”

About the lesser evil, we can read that “Correa defines himself as a humanist, a Christian of the left (he is a Roman Catholic)” and that he “received a Master's degree in Economics from the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois in 2001.”

Don't vote, it just encourages them, but when it comes to being offered a chance to avoid being ruled, sold and repressed by a ruthless capitalist pig like Noboa --who admits in an article in Forbes Magazine (about the way in which he screwed his family to take control of the family empire) that "...there are many strange things in my life ... But what can I say? I always come out well." (from http://www.forbes.com/free_forbes/2003/0317/108.html)
-- it is maybe not only sensible but necesary to vote!
So if he comes out well this time, mind you he has set a precedent for losing three time previously, Ecuador will have a president right up there with Rumsfeld, Cheney and Bush: another personification of the devil to rule in the name of God. Just like Arundhati Roy noted “So now we know. Pigs are horses. Girls are boys. War is Peace.” (from http://www.zmag.org/roywarpeace.htm)
