A little report in JDW this week demonstrates that the lack of supplies of trained troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, is leading to the deployment of a brigades of green and unready infantry, outside its 'force readiness cycle'. A sign of the UK forces at breaking point.

UK infantry brigade to get Afghan role
Significantly, planners at the British Army's Land Command have offered up the headquarters of 52 Infantry Brigade to deploy to the central Asian country in November 2007.
This is the first time the UK armed forces have deployed on operations a brigade from outside its 'force readiness cycle' of armoured, mechanised, air assault or commando brigades, indicating the pressure that the British Army is under to simultaneously sustain major operations in both Iraq and Afghanistan
