Our tax for Military

It is inconsistent that we have had the right of conscientious objection for 90 years but are we still have no choice but to fund wars from our taxes. ‘EDM 1658 Conscientious objection from Taxes for Military Purposes’ addresses this and calls for the military portion of tax contributions from conscientious objectors to war to be directed to a government-controlled fund specifically for promoting peace and security without violence
What you can do:
· Write to your MP (Evan Harris or Andrew Smith) concerning this and asking him to sign EDM 1658. Obviously a number of people writing individually at the same time would offer a lot of reinforcement. See letter to Andrew Smith attached.
· Check the above web sites for further information.
· With hold 10% of your tax if you are self employed
· Talk to your boss about the possibility of with holding 10% of your tax.
· Support those willing and able to with hold 10% of their tax.
· Increase general public awareness of the 10% of our tax going to the military by telling family and friends.
· Attend next meeting on peace tax at 6.45 on 21 November at 14 West Way, Off Tree Lane, Ifley, Oxford
