Michael Albert is one of the best known figures in the alter-globalisation movement. He is the author of numerous books and articles on alternative or participatory models of economics such as the Porto Alegre model. He is a prominent speaker at events such as the World Social Forum. He is perhaps best known for his work as one of the founders of Znet which is one of the most important activist networks and host to blogs by Noam Chomsky amongst many others. The Nottingham talk is part of a series of opportunities for British and Irish activists and academics to hear from someone who is as well placed as any to assess the nature of and prospects for the development of 'global civil society'. Not to be missed.
