In June of 1982, when Israel invaded Lebanon with 80,000 soldiers, killing 17,000 Lebanese and Palestinian in a matter of a few weeks, my father, who had known some of the early Zionist leaders, compared the Israelis with the Nazis and suggested I go back and read Deuteronomy. I did and read it again quite recently and concluded, as did the reader who forwarded these obscene photos to me, that there is a direct line from Deuteronomy and the genocides committed by Jews, whether true or mythical, as ordered by the God they chose and described in that chapter, to what Israel is doing today in Lebanon and occupied Palestine.
"And we utterly destroyed them. . . the men, women and children, of every city." – Deuteronomy 3:6
". . . [T]he Lord thy God . . . shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed." – Id., 7:23
"Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours; from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be." – Id., 11:24
"[O]f the cities of these people, which the Lord thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth." – Id., 21:16
"Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known a man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves." – Numbers 31:17-18
"Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass." – 1 Samuel 15:3
"And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the Lord hath spoken it."– Obadiah, verse 18
