This will be their third week of an indefinite strike over health and saftey issues. Be good if 'radicals' were to show their support in practical ways and get down their early monday morning. The binman are a nice bunch of lads and happy for any and all support from anyone willing to give it. if you can't make it Monday pop down any time.

A bit of background info:
Refuse collectors in Haringey employed by private refuse collecting firm Haringey Accord are in their 2 week of an indefinite strike over issues of health and safety. They went on stirke over management plans to take 2 dust carts off the road thus increasing the workload of the other dustcarts. Already pushed to work longer and faster to a tighter deadline the workers felt this was a definite contravention of healthy and safety at work.
As of Monday 14th August Accord will be hiring temporary agency staff to cover the backlog of uncollected refuse in attempt to undermine and ultimately break the strike. The binman have asked people to join the picket line, at the Ashley Road Depot in support of the strike and try to persude the agency workers to support them by not crossing the picket line.
The binmen themselves are willing to go back tomorrow and say it it not an issue of 'more pay', it is one of simple management costcutting and putting binmen at risk. Transport and General Workers Union are currently negotiating with Haringey Accord to have the 2 dustcarts reinstated. What is needed now is strong support from the pulic to resolve the dispute in favour of the binmen.
